The cat food is ponging my place out. Cat wasn't eating the original dry stuff so changed to these pouches. Read on the internet the food should be smelly or they won't eat it. Tried putting the bowl outside but it attracts flies.

Any thoughts?

In my house when you'd put cat food down it would be gone within five minutes...so the smell didn't hand around for long.

Same as their human counterparts! haha

My mum's cat sometimes leaves a bit so she has a plastic lid that you put over it to stop it smelling, if the cat wants more it normally says so - or shoves it off himself! :O)

Most cats love routine, if you put the food out at the same mealtimes everyday, he/she should get used to eating at those times and hopefully, like Amber says, eat it all up quite quickly, maybe try several smaller meals throughout the day.

If you want to give dry food another go, my cats both love James Wellbeloved more than any wet food, which is great for me because it's a lot less smelly! It's a bit more expensive than other dry brands but its got a very high meat percentage and its very good nutritionally. You can get small trial packs in pet shops.

Good luck though, cats can be so faddy!

My vet told me that acts eat up to fourteen times a day, so leaving a high-quality dry food out for them is the best thing. We use Iams for our moggie, which I think is similar to the Wellbeloved range. Again, not the cheapest, but you can leave it out - no smell and it's a good balanced food. And no sticky fingers! Bleh! Even the kids will feed him because it's not wet food, which is a bonus. Dog gets dry food, too - can't stand stinky pet food!! :)

I am currently temping for the catalogue 'Scotts of Stow.' They have a little house/kennel thing for cats where they can put the litter and the food. Pretty too!

We have a wonderful cat...and he gets dry food as well as FELIX out of a can. I just put silver foil over the can in the fridge. It never smells though either in the Fridge or his dining area!

The purina range seems to go down well to leave out for whenever they want it,
but as for wet food our cats really only like the foil trays (tins are a disaster so much gets left yuk!) and one of them spilt between the two of them seems to be enough per meal, but they are like hobbits and like quite a few meals a day. Quite often they get a bag of farmfoods sliced chicken 2 quid for a big bag full seems to work out cheaper than cat food and there is never any waste.
