About me
Chris Nairne is a versatile performer with the ability to adapt well to whatever project he is involved with at any given time whether in the realms of TV, Film or Stage. He enjoys character acting roles, naturalist drama, period drama, Shakespeare, but particularly enjoys performing comedy where his mastery of timing and facial expressions has been proven. He has experience in voice-over work as well as photographic modeling (Take a Break Magazine). Chris is a good communicator and with plenty of life experience and observation to draw upon, he brings a mature attitude to the work place.Chris has worked predominantly in theatre over the past 25 years in varying areas of the performing arts. He has performed in Theatre in Education in fast moving, high energy plays and pantomime for younger audiences as well as more serious themed historical drama like "Much Better Here"; a dramatisation of the life of Lord Shaftesbury, written for and performed to older children. He was part of the team for "The Battling Cumberland Giants" an outdoor arena show in which he played Handy Andy the Clown. In 2012 he was in a production of The Tempest; performed to 7 - 11 year olds. Also in 2012 Chris took on the role of Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian polar explorer who beat Captain Scott to the South Pole in Ted Tally's "Terra Nova". Later in 2012 and subsequently in 2013, Chris assumed the character of a 1940s Spiv at the Goodwood Revival and enjoyed three days of interacting with the general public, ad-libbing whilst trying to flog dodgy nylons to unsuspecting punters!
In June 2013 Chris played Firs in “The Cherry Orchard” by Chekhov. Then in September 2013 Chris performed in a site specific piece of music theatre written and directed by Prof Pamela Howard OBE called "The New Jerusalem".
In August 2014, Chris portrayed the English playwright R.C. Sherriff in “The End of the Journey”, a new play by Gillian Plowman, directed by Pamela Howard.
A keen singer, Chris has a high baritone singing voice and has played the lead in Aesop the musical and Motel the Tailor in Fiddler on the Roof.
As well as a wealth of experience in performance, Chris has a wide range of experience in technical theatre from lighting and sound to set building, prop making and pyrotechnics.
Amongst various other jobs, Chris is a qualified electrician and has carried out all sorts of property maintenance work.
Chris' ideal playing type is Comedy with Pathos. Preferred genre is period drama:anything pre 1960!
