About me
Hedy Gregor is a Toronto-based actor, writer, and voice-over artist. Originally from the Czech Republic, she spent many years living in London, England before settling in Canada. Fluent in both English and Czech, Hedy is also proficient in Slovak and Polish, and she once performed in Slovenian for a project. Her first on-set experience was Habermann, a 2010 Czech/German war film set in the 1930s. Although originally an extra, the director recast her in several scenes with the lead owing to her talent.
Her education began in London, where she was accepted into a prestigious theater program at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. As part of her final exams, she performed at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and received an ATCL Diploma in Performing.
Despite her love of theater, film remained her true ambition. As such, Hedy left London for Toronto, where she earned her Acting for Media Diploma at George Brown College. Here, she studied under Laura de Carteret and Adam MacDonald and acquired diverse skills in mocap performance, combat for film, and voice acting, among others.
For four years, Hedy worked as a carer for an elderly person with Alzheimer’s disease. In honor of her friend, she wrote and produced Who Are You?, a short film that reflects her experiences with this complex condition. The film made its way into several film festival circuits internationally and is featured online.
As a voice actor, Hedy demonstrated her prowess on the popular animated series Super Science Friends, portraying the Polish scientist Marie Curie.
A career highlight was her non-speaking role in a documentary (Escaping the Nazis by Forte Entertainment) in which she portrayed the mother of holocaust survivor Fishel Goldig. Through body language and facial expressions alone, Hedy managed to deliver a gripping performance that captured the essence of the character.
Hedy has since performed in multiple independent projects while continuing to work on her own productions. She trains privately with dialect coach Joy Juckes to refine her standard American accent and create more opportunities for work.
Having successfully established herself on two continents, overcoming language barriers, immigration hurdles, and a competitive industry, Hedy’s story is one of resilience and dedication to the craft, and her diverse background and skillsets speak to her remarkable adaptability as an actor.
