| Education | | 2005, Post Certificate in Education and Training (PCET) University of East London (UEL) | | 1998, 3 yr. Acting The Central School of speech and drama | | | About me | I graduated from The Central School of Speech and Drama in 1998 and went straight in to the Channel 5 soap opera Family Affairs. I played regular character Josh Matthews for the next 2 years and got a really good, hands on and intensive, training for acting in front of camera, to add to the theatrical training I had received at drama school. After that I worked steadily in Theatre and TV for the next 4 years and then, for one reason or another, I moved away from acting and in to teaching. I didn't planned to leave acting behind and, in truth, it's always been my one true love, so when, in 2009, 5 years after I'd drifted away, I got the opportunity to restart my career I grabbed it with both hands.
Now, 3 years in to my second crack, I'm a far better and more rounded actor than I was before and 100 times more proactive and focussed than I'd ever been.
Have just finished playing Caliban in a production of The Tempest at the Drayton Arms Theatre. Had a couple of good reviews, Check them out in my info section. I'm about to start a production of Much Ado at the same venue, playing Don Pedro. It runs from July 31st to August 18th, come check it out :) | | | Any other information | I have worked as a Drama Teacher, both full time in a secondary school for 2 years, teaching GCSE and A level, and part time for a weekend performing arts school in Essex. I have taught all ages from 4 to 18.
I have also worked as an Event Manager/Compere for a number of well established events companies.
REVIEWS :-
Hooked, Theatre 503 (Battersea) -
"Terence burns plays the part of the shady cockney club manager entertainingly and delivered the best "F**k off" this Londonista has seen in a long time."
The Londonist, 2nd August 2009.
Hooked, George 2 venue (Edinburgh festival) -
"The sleazy club owner (Terence Burns) is especially well acted in his brutality and indifference, adding poignancy to the suffering of those wrapped up in this unwholesome world."
Magnus Huntly-Grant, Allthefestivals.com, 13th August 2009
Hooked, George 2 venue (Edinburgh festival) -
"Terence Burns is perfectly cast as the sleazy club owner, Parnell. His scenes with Monique are particularly convincing, causing hair to stand up on the back of the neck at his disturbing and realistically confronting behaviour."
Skye Crawford, Fringe Review, 30th August 2009.
Lone Star, Brooke Green Hotel - Cellar Venue -
"In contrast Burns as Roy is the masculine alter-ego to his brother, he is firm, controlling and in the intimate space of the stage he is scarily violent.... The reaction Burns gives as his character finds out Ray has been sleeping with his wife multiple times. Lone Star suddenly becomes electric - the small audience gasp in disbelief then slowly there is an uncomfortable silence before the rage is delivered in violence. Simply superb theatre!"
Jake, The Younger Theatre (online), 8th May 2010
The Tempest, Drayton Arms Theatre
"Caliban = he is a genius -I found I wanted to see more of the Mooncalf." Selina Mills, Remote Goat (online) 11th July 2012
The Tempest, Drayton Arms Theatre
"Terry Burns' Caliban was a psychotic monster with a demonic eye, entering the stage whilst banging his head against the wall, though like Gollum there remained an edge of sympathy." Ed Nightingale, The Gizzle (online) 19th July 2012
