Hi everyone,
I've just had my showreel finished, and it is on my castingcallpro page. I'm just interested to hear some opinions!
Thanks,
Lucy x

Hi Lucy

Ahh the controversial opening montage lol. If you can afford to have a montage of 30 seconds that suggests to me that you don't have enough footage for a reel. Although you have cut it very well to make it pacey it is amazing how much time it eats up.

However, I did like the sexy walk/sunglasses footage and the robot moves and the chocolate bar/candles scene. I also like the one with you in front of the beach backdrop and I guess the stage combat one could stay but it doesn't look particularly realistic.

I wouldn't have bothered putting in the scene with the red dress as that isn't particularly good production quality and the popcorn/cinema one appears in exactly the same format later in the reel so chop that one too. The one of you crouching ninja style...wasn't sure about that. Lose the one of you crying on the phone as that is the very next clip.

I mean there is nothing wrong with the footage but I think these days from what I hear, opening montages are a nono unless very short.

I think comedy is your thing. You have good delivery/comic timing and facial expressions! Hopefully you can get some more footage so we can see a bit more of your work.

My only suggestion for the main part of the reel would be that the
'Just Once' clip is way too long. I'd use the footage from the "I just need you to know how alone I feel" line as the performance is much stronger from that point onwards.

Good luck!

Jenna

When I saw the running time was nearly five minutes, I thought, this is going to be long but it simply flew by. I think this is a good quality reel, the pieces look good and the camera really likes you. Some good comedic stuff and some good natural stuff too. The first clip (Just one)was not really my cup of tea and you were a little obscured but I admired the conviction of your emotion. I've just had a new reel done myself (feel free to comment!), and deliberately didn't include a montage but I didn't mind yours at all, in fact I quite liked it. I think the clip that really sells you well is the one about the angel/scroll because your timing is excellent and thus, funny but you are also very natural. Good work!
