Hi Guys!

If you're like me then you have started off your acting career by doing a bit of Am Dram and then done the occasional bit of paid theatre work, and probably now are looking at other avenues of performing arts. Namely film and tv. But where to start? Well some of you might want to do a short training course before you start auditioning, just to get a feel for what screen acting is like and how it is different from stage. Problem is a lot of the best training courses are in London which as we all is a VERY long way from home! And by the time you pay for a return ticket or fuel up there and accommodation, costs are begin to get into the unreasonable level.

Well my friends I think I have the answer!

I have been in talks with a workshop group called The Saturday Academy who are based in London. They do a 2 day training course on acting for tv and film. This is taken from they're website.

"This is an exceptional weekend course for those people wishing to learn or develop existing acting skills for the medium of film but who cannot commit to a full-time schedule.

The course is lead by Max McGill, a BBC Director, and our acting tutors. You will learn core acting skills as well as all the technical skills necessary for you to perform confidently in front of a camera. You will act in filmed exercises and also shoot exercises yourselves so that you know what it is like to be on the other side of the camera. At the end of the course, you will be given a DVD of the scenes that you and your fellow actors have acted in."

I've personally spoken with these guys on the phone and I've also been taught by them myself before so I know that they really are good. They told me that if I could get enough people down in the South West (mainly Cornwall but this is open to anyone who wants it) then they would send the workshop down for all of us to do it. They need at least 10 people to make it worth doing and I want to do it myself so I need 9 more. I thought if you can't get to the training, then make the training come to you.

The course will cost between £225.00 and £250.00 inc. VAT (We're not sure exactly how much because we need to discuss that a little further). The course will probably be held in or close to Truro in Cornwall and there's plenty of cheap B&B's if you're coming from slightly further afield.

This is just an message to see how much interest there is, so if yourself or any others you know would like to do the course, then please let me know by leaving a message here.

Hope I've interested some people and hope to see you on the course.

J
