Hi,

Just wanted some general advice really. I'm currently based in Kent and am only about 30 mins train from central London but due to a number of recent events am seriously considering relocating to the Swindon/Oxford area.

Just wondered if there's anybody on here who could advise me as to how much this is likely to affect my ability to get work or whether moving further away from London is generally a bad move? Or the positive side of things would be nice to hear too.

Thanks.

I'm (much of the time) based in Swindon, and it's a mixed bag. Although it's very handy train wise as you can get to so many places, the tickets from Swindon to London are stupidly expensive and Great Western rail aren't always that reliable. If you're a driver it's probably slightly easier as you've got the motorway that can get you to so many places quickly. Probably really disloyal of me to say so, but if you're considering moving to Swindon I'd look at a couple of the surrounding villages as well as the town centre isn't all that great anymore, unfortunately.
