| Hello all fellow CCP members. I have spent the last 6 months writing and shooting my own comedy shorts. I am quite proud of what I have done so far with such limited funding and equipment. However, that is just my opinion. I am really eager to get as much feedback as possible, whether good, bad...or otherwise. I'm a big boy so please don't hold back! Just know that I still feel like I am learning, and as I said I have no budget. But I believe any kind of constructive feedback will only make me improve. So if you have a spare few minutes please visit my youtube page and take a watch. Kind Regards Jack http://www.youtube.com/user/Rusty7Productions | ||

| Hello Jack, I watched two of them The Lift and Bum. I thought the writing was quite clever and on the whole the filming and editing and general execution quite competent. Especially considering the difficulties of filming in such a confined space of a lift with a huge mirror threatening to reveal the cameraman, this problem did mean that your "looking room" (the space needed camera left to allow you the space to comfortably talk into when addressing your friend) was lacking in your close ups. In general though as films I found them a bit talky and lacking in visual comedy or action, for me The lift was almost a radio play. There was also a certain energy missing somehow, although this might have been because the sound was a little muffled important technical considerations like this affect an actors performance considerably and obviously expensive equipment is always a factor on low budget films, but get that microphone in as close as you can! Both of your performances came across very naturally and were very confident, the subject matter however "Likely Lads trying to impress the girl" and "Men behaving badly with piles" would have had me asking you to up the anti a bit for that sit com style in my opinion. The stuff with the candles was too long and surely there were more visual laughs to be had in there? But then again I'm just an old fashioned ham :-) It does mean that you have something to put on your showreel of course and you're a good looking lad with every chance of TV parts, your colour picture at the front of your showreel is well worth putting in your portfolio here . Oh I hope the above is constructive, I don't want to appear a swine. Keep at it, perhaps join your local IAC group (institute of amateur cinematography) you'll find lots of people there with lots of expensive equipment to help you out if you want to produce your own films or keep volunteering for the student films till you get stuff you can use. But don't let making your own films distract you from the more important job of actually getting paid work off here! You'll also probably get nobbled for using Disney music in your film "Don't mess with the mouse!" all the best Nige | |

| Hey Jack - Think your stuff is really strong actually. - You play the awkward 'wannabe cool' guy very well in 'The Lift'! There were times when I thought maybe more music/SFX could have been involved - having said that, not sure when - Maybe to accompany the wink?? That kind of thing... But on the whole, some really good stuff! Well done x | |

| Hi Jack only had a really quick look but there's some great stuff there! Think your interactions as a duo are very good and it's well shot but some of it goes around the houses mind you I was in a hurry. I think "Bum' has some Brilliant stuff but sort the aspect ratio you've shot in 16:9 and exported in 4:3 ( you can enlarge the others too! ) . Will try and watch all properly later as it's worth it!!! Well done as I said the only thing I think they may need is cutting back a bit! Cheeers for now! | |

![]() anonymous | Hey Jack! I'm not going to comment on the technical side of things because frankly, I don't really know what I'm talking about! :) But, just to say I think you have a lot of talent as an actor and you look really great on camera (form an orderly queue ladies!) so please keep going! I liked the style of the humour very much and although a bit rough round the edges in certain places as you say you're working with no money and are learning as you go. I thought the pairing of you and the other actor was good, a nice balance of looks and styles. Well done, sir!! Keep going! :) xx |

| Hi guys, Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the films and comment. You've all said some really positive stuff and I really appreciate it. I do feel that on the whole they are all probably all a bit too long and need cutting down. Nigel thanks for the tip on joining my local IAC group, I will look into that. I will definitely take all of your tips and advice on board and use them to improve further. Thanks again guys. Jack | |
