| So I just received the following email from a job I applied to via CCP, will just copy and paste the important stuff and no names will be mentioned: .......'we are only considering those actresses with showreels available on CCP. As you do not have a showreel attached to your profile we cannot consider you at this time. We wanted to email and let you know how important the showreel was to our casting process.' 9! I have 9 videos attached to my profile. 2 of which are showreels! Did they bother to look, NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Then they have the cheek to email me and lecture me on how important it is to have one for this application. I have 2!!!! and various other videos of my work for them to watch! Really???? I go out of my way to make sure I am right for the role (which by the way is professional and the way it should be) to make sure I am not wasting their time. Take the time to read breakdown properly and amend my cover letter when applying to each job. Did they bother to offer me the same courtesy? Course not! I know this happens and I know they just couldn't be bothered and just sent out the rejection letter to all their NO's. Fine, no problem, we all get them a lot. But it angers me when they clearly didn't even look at my page, send an email like that stating the importance of a showreel, when I clearly have a plethora of videos to choose from and 2 showreels available to them. I know they can't tailor each email and I am not expecting them to, but just send out a general NO. Anywho I emailed them back very politely pointing out that they must have missed the 9 videos available and to thank them for taking the time to view my application. OK Monday morning rant over........how is everyone today? :D Sophia x | ||

| To be honest if they were that shabby during the application process, imagine how they could have been had you got the job! A lucky escape perhaps? | |

![]() anonymous | Just had a peek at your profile and you have a pretty long list of media files there including an obvious showreel at the top of the list! Ooops, a bit embarrassing for them! Maybe a lucky miss as the previous post said? :) Very frustrating for you :( xx |

| I think Simon's spot on. If they send a blanket no that is incorrect in it's assumptions / content it makes them look very amateur and poor! A Lucky escape I reckon!! | |

| That is odd....your reels appear as you say...on your profile. The Co does highlight the need to have a reel though...take note those who don't think one is important. I would suggest they are up the creek as you say....but, it might be worth doing a test application with CCP, to see that when your app arrives at the employers end....that your reel/s def show up? I also have another theory which CCP can throw some light on: Who loaded up the showreel....you or a provider? Now I am not saying that is the problem.....but well you never know? Def do a test run with CCP though so that you can be 100% certain it was down to the Co being dumb...and that your reel is listed when applying via CCP | |

| Lol I had the same! I agree with Simon - lucky escape. But what is the world coming to eh?! I went up to the furthest reaches of northern England in June for an audition (which they approached me via Spotlight about) for what seemed to be a very professional set-up - took a day and cost a lot for train fares. They said they'd get back to me within a couple of days - after a month I'd heard nothing so I emailed them to say how disappointed I was that they hadn't had the courtesy to get back to me. I quote the reply... "You auditioned well and are an accomplished musician... I lived in London for 15 years, and don't mind people being 'London' - I just don't want to cast them...better than 'just the mix of skills/keep you on file' bullshit." If you don't like Londoners - don't ask them schlep across the country to audition. And anyhow, I'm not from London I'm from Lancashire!! :-$ You have to laugh really! S x | |

![]() anonymous | I think a lot of the time the cd's who are on low budget/expenses only tyoe stuff don't look at the details on your CV (maybe a time thing) as I've had a couple of phonecalls to audition for some filming in Manchester after people have looked at my showreel, but then when I say I'm from London it's : "Oh, okay, well never mind - forget this phonecall we can't pay your expenses". But then at least they didn't audition me and THEN tell me I lived too far away :( Seems a bit off to put it mildly to have you spend all that money and know from the outset that they'd never have you. But perhaps they just didn't check, in which case, perhaps a tad disorganised and unprofessional as Guy et al suggest..? Mark - you should be a lawyer!!! :) xx |

| I am finding that a lot of people do not read the application properly or at all, or you are dealing mainly with the director who has not had the details passed to them by the casting director or producer. Very exasperating. I also once went hundreds of miles to audition to be told that they had different criteria. It helps to sound them out on the phone if at all possible.Sometimes people are cagey about giving a phone number because they don't want to be called and/or 'haven't got the time.' | |

| If 'not being in London' or 'only northern-based actors' is a priority then the caster should have looked at the actor's location. It's easy to see where the actor is based when you apply via CCP. I've done casting, and in one ad we specified living in London. We auditioned only those who satisfied this criterion. Sometimes the actor gave us this info in the cover note, but I always went back to the CV to check. It's just a sensible precaution when you can't pay much in travel expenses. The company you dealt with have no excuse. | |

| Thanks for your replies - Mark I've a huge mind to bill them for my train fare! Here's the thing - I didn't apply for the role - they approached me via Spotlight to ask me to audition. I did sound them out on the phone and asked that they send me the full script, and details of wages, subsistence etc before I would commit to travelling such a distance at such an expense. I don't think the issue was that I was based in London - it was more that I was conceived to BE 'London' - whatever that was supposed to mean?!? And how dare he swear at me in what is supposed to be a professional email! As for the company that this original post is about - well, I think they'll get enough replies of outrage to keep them busy for a while... :-) S x | |
