Hey there munchkins!
I was practising on Windows Movie Maker and I've put this piece together with a song. But when my video finishes the song goes on and I don't know how to stop it.

I've tried Menu - Audio - fadeout, but these functions are locked.
Grateful for some advice. Thanks

Hu Fuzz...I can't see why they are locked? Do you mean you cannot select the tick next to fade in and or fade out?

To rescue the situation: Save an AVI file of just the video....delete the sound track for now.

Once you have a .AVI file nice and safe...copy it and back it up!

Then try a new project in movie maker.....then go to its settings and or options and resent to defaul everything you can see and or find.

Once you have done that, import your saved .AVI video file onto teh video line.

Then try the sound track again...making sure it is impordted into the project..

put the natural end to the track at the end of the video....then drag the track out all the way to the beginning of the video....and select fade IN.

Hope that helps or works somehwere along the line

ok depending on which version of movie maker you have... if its the one that came with windows XP or Vista, you click on the bar that had the music on, click the vertical line where you'd like it to end and click the "split"icon, below the preview window. you then just delete the bit remaining after and fade out the song clip (by 'right-clicking' on the music bar again and selecting 'fade out')

if its the version that came with windows seven, you have to go to HOME
and highlight the music bar, at the top right there should be an icon that says "fit to music", clicking that should make whichever is longest, shoter, to fit the video. (if the music is longer, it trims the end, if the video is longer, it shortens the picture duration)

hope that helps. these things are easy to show to someone but not easy to describe . lol

yeah they are both very different. i prefer the older version, the user had more freedom with the editing. but still, it's handy for quick edits and montages etc. the pro version will have even more features i assume :O)
