| Topic: Rough draft of my new showreel | ||
|---|---|---|
| This is very much a rough draft of my showreel as I'm waiting for high quality footage of the TV series (which makes up the bulk of the reel), which will be brighter and clearer, before I let this out into the world. So please ignore the dark fuzziness! But feedback before I finalise this would be wonderful. If anyone has any suggestions on my playing age/type, that would be greatly appreciated too. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=416574259291 I think I've made the video public so hopefully that link will work! | ||

| Hi Emily...good stuff this...or will be with the high res versions of course. I really liked you in the scene on the swing....nice acting from "both" of you....also best scene for quality of camera work and sound. I would open with that scene if it were me? Sound on the first clip a bit iffy... but mostly coz I think the music was a bit loud throughout? ...can you reduce the level of background music...I guess not if this is part of the over all edit. If it's your addition though....could it be lowered so that we can hear the dialogue better. Maybe its due to the low res version, or my hearing of course!! Other scenes are good....but for me, I wasn't to sure about the acting from the guy in your first scene either. Well constructed reel...Loved the way its goes straight into the acting...nice with the little montage "on the end" too. Great for a first draft... few tweaks.... and be really brave and brutal with the length of scenes (less is more).....and you will be there I'd have said. Good work! | |

| Thanks, Mark, I really appreciate that. I know I can make the editing tighter on a lot of it - there are a couple of scenes which can definitely end or begin a line earlier. Funnily enough I did have the swing scene as the opener to start off with (it opens my current reel as well) but when I watched it all back, it just didn't seem to flow very well having three clips in a row from the same project, but I'll take another look. I know what you mean about the sound on the first scene but I don't remember thinking it was a problem when it was broadcast so I think (hope) it's just down to quality of the clip, but I'll bear it in mind when I get the 'proper' footage. | |
