Hi,

So I've finally managed to get copies of 3 films I have been involved in in the past 6 months. But I have no idea how to get them from the DVDs onto my computer so I have some examples of my work online.
I know how to cut them and edit them together once I have hold of them but I'm a bit stuck!

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Catherine

This software link below will crack all dvd's and you can change them to .mov files or whatever files you want to edit in

http://www.squared5.com/

It's FREE too! Anymore help needed myself or Mark K will I'm sure help. Zamzar can also change file types once on your computer.

Thanks Aidan...cheque's in the post….boing boing!

Handbrake and a lot of other rippers will work a lot of the time....sometimes they can cock up the sync between vid and vocal...for some unearthly reason...so do check that.

I usually capture direct into my editing programme by playing the dvd as normal...without any loss in quality.

You can also capture your DVD clips direct into a camcorder like this.....and then re-capture from the camcorder onto the PC. However...a very good quality DVD player, camcorder etc is needed and good connections and leads are a must!

A little known trick; You can simply drag the DVD VOB file's onto your hard drive...and then rename it from .VOB to blahblah.MPG and then the file becomes playable and editable...simple! Again do watch the sync issues afterwards though. Also it's a pain to drag a whole (often large) .vob file if you only want to use just 1 min of a particular scene. That's why I just capture the required bits direct from a played DVD direct into my Editor prog.

It's a bit of a FILE minefield....but OK once you get your head around it. By all means contact me if you want any advice and or assistance.

Thanks for all your responses and private messages, I have downloaded some of the software recommended and I'm going to have a bash at editing something myself tomorrow!

Hopefully I won't be coming back for help having chucked my laptop out of the window! ;)
