Honestly i dont know how you can find a balance between work and acting jobs.
I have just started in a bar and i have 42 hours, dont know how im going to get to auditions.
I know one actress who relies on the old trick of living off her parents ,benefits and boyfriend so of course it is easier for her to find the acting jobs.
Basically if your working your at a disadvantage.

Hey,

I do various things to keep me ticking along. I work for various promo companies, and an events company. The events company is my main fall back as I can just ring them and pick and choose my hours.
I also managed to pick up 2 days work last week, leafleting from gumtree, it was enough money to keep me going for a week. There is a lot of flexible work out there, you just need to look for it.
Events and promo agencies are a good place to start :)

I have a temp office place that is really good at just letting me work whenever I need to, so I can not go in for a month and they don't mind! Promo is also pretty good for filling in the odd day hither & thither!

Run my own business (Events and Video prod) .....you will never earn much working for others!

Check out Business Link for free ...good advice.

Team up with some other actors and start an office cleaning Co. Specialise it by cleaning agents offices in London! I don't know....anything!

Anyone can run their own business.....if you want to do it enough that is, and don't mind working hard! Why do telesales when you could ring the same people for your own Company and return!

I work as a commercial model. Though my new agent has told me I am only allowed to do commercials through them now. But that is fine as I can carry on doing stills with others. and no you don't have to be especially pretty or good looking. That is a misconception. Many of my model agents have a 'real people' section and there always seems to be work about for older people. They get a lot of the cruise shoots. I went on a job in Norway with a lady that was complaining as it was her 9th cruise shoot that year!!!
I also am about to start buying and selling things on ebay. Going around car boots, doing things up and then selling them on (I have a design background). Hope this helps xxx

I work in Pizza Hut part time - I tell them when I'm available, and they give me shifts. I can usually make about £15-£20 tips in a four hour shift, on top of my wages.

I work part time as a Debt Advisor for a major utility company - inbound and outbound calls, evening time only. Also, I temp as a customer service rep for an online gift company, as and when needed during the day. Sometimes I feel like I have the phone glued to my ear but it's good money and it works for me.

All the best!
