Have been reliably advised to chop all Spotlight photos down to 3 or 4. Have got rid of a bunch, now just need to do final cull.

Would appreciate opinions.

I'd say 1, 2, 4, 7 (or maybe 6).

Have also been wondering if maybe 'less is more'. Could I ask who gave you this advice? (I don't mean the name - I mean was it a CD, agent..?)

Cheers, Jess

It was a 1-on-1 session at Spotlight. Give them a ring and ask about "Spotlight Mondays".

They'll be brutal, especially with your CV, which is good.

I would say 1,3,5 and 7. 7 is good as the difference to your hair gives a completely different look. Oh and its a good photo.

Hi Mark,

I would say 1, 2, 4 and 7 (perhaps 6 too!?!) as they have the most range from one photo to another.

I would agree that 1,2,4 and 7 are the ones to keep. If you have a fifth photo them keep number 6.

I am very interested in knowing the reasoning why 4 or 5 photos is recommended? Is it because then CD's may concentrate more on the few you provide? What about the amount of choice you have to select from for putting yourself up for stuff if you are on Spotlight link? I know that specific photos of mine have all got me specific role types.Several I have only used occassionally, but they have got me seen for things nevertheless.

I don't suppose the advice has anything to do with saving them the work of the uploading, and dealing with the complaints when they c* it up?

Basically it doesn't project a successful image, more a desperate plea to portray every possible character you can. It assumes directors/CD's have no imagination, and while we may agree with this, it's not what we want people to see. It's the same as having every credit since school on there to pad your CV. You have to think, "If I was having a meeting with Independent/United, etc, what would they do to my CV, and why?

Go on Spotlight and look at all the successful actors you like. I guarantee they will ALL have a single photo. Of course we want to show range, but we also need to appear in the same light as those who we would consider successful.
