| The entry has just opened for The London To Brighton bike ride. There are 27 thousand places available, but you need to be quick its a very very popular event. If like me you love to hop on your bike to get to castings in London,or you like keeping fit or simply saving a few quid on journeys best taken on a bike, then join me on a really fun day out. Ive done the event before and have just entered again. It cost around £31 pound to enter, takes a good day of riding to complete and you need to think about staying in Brighton overnight to recover before getting the train home,or like some nutters do riding back. If you enter early enough there are places for you and your bike to get back to London the same day. These cost £21.00.Be warned trains will not allow cyclist to travel back with bikes on the day of the event. So make your plans early.Im undecided as to whether to stay down or travel back on the monday. Perhaps someone on the site who lives in Brighton would be good enough to offer a fellow CCP member a place to crash. Anyway like I said its fun, keeps you fit.And with work thin on the ground it gives you a chance to cleanse your mind as well as your body. And make some really good mates along the way. For the guys there are lots of lovely women ,for the women there are men in lycra.Need I say more ...Oh for anyone undecided about their preference theres both men and women.Although I think your just being greedy. Top tip,if your going to ride for the first time.Take loads of water chocolate and snacks.Pace yourself its around 60 miles in total. A distance any reasonably fit person can ride,if you dont rush off like a loon.Remember for every hill you ride up,theres a freewheel the other side yes! Do an internet search for ditchling beacon. Its the last big hill before the end.So save some puff for it,dont say I didnt warn you. Beware of other cyclists and cars.People do get hurt when they are unused to riding in big groups. Its something I see a lot when people are nervous about riding with so many other people,or they are not regular riders. Its a bit like being a learner driver.Just relax and keep your distance. If you take simple steps like this youll have a ball.Oh and remember to get your bike properly serviced well before the event day.Because you can bet every person entering this event will be getting their bike serviced as well. You dont want to ride 60 miles on worn out brake pads or tires. Good luck to anybody entering.Give me a buzz and Ill see you there 7.30am start for me.Preying for sunshine all the way down to the seaside | ||

| I think im in at 6.30 0r 7am.Reason being Im 16 miles outside London in Uxbridge.Which means Ive got to warm up ride in.Which I dont fancy rushing.Or ive got to get a train in.Which probably wont start running until at least 5.30am. But my numbers there if you fancy texting me.Ive got a coupld of mates in Brighton.I might stay down if I can manage it.Grab a beer and a kebab.Theres a top kebab not far from the finish.Just have to remember where it is.Anybody up for a sunday evening kebab.Fill the spot after 60 odd miles | |
