I had my headshots done on 8 November and am still waiting to receive the actual photos. I eventually got the website of shots to chose from the end of January after pestering the photographer. We are now 4 weeks after sending in my choices and I am still waiting for the CD that I pre-paid for!!

Any thoughts/advice? My flatmate told me to complain to Spotlight, equity, etc but I really don't know if that's necessary. Could I ask for my money back? Especially since none of the shots were great......

Very angry and last week ended up going and having more done!

Give them the option to respond once more, stating your intentions to proceed with informing Spotlight and Equity. To try and get your money back as a small claim might well be difficult. However if you have a contract with them even if verbal you may have a case to bring.

But like I said give them one more chance to communicate then go Public if this fails.

Hey Sharon

Wow! The absolute maximum time I have ever known for a headshot session turnaround is 3 weeks! This is horrendous, and I think you need to stand up to them and explain - firmly but politely - that after some investigation you are being advised that they have been highly ineffecient and unprofessional! I would definitely attempt to reclaim some compensation, especially if you paid more than say, £80.

Thanks for the advice. I have e-mailed again asking when I can expect to get the CD and photos. If I don't hear back I will complain because I paid £155!

Oh dear - this is awful for you, especially as headshots are such an investment for us both financially and for our career. This has def taken far too long, they should be able to email you a headshot in a high definition jpeg (or whatever they're called) which you then download to a memery stick and print off. I had some (yes, expensive) headshots done and had the downloadable version of three shots within a couple of days, I didn't have a CD because I didn't really need one. Name and shame and fight to get your money back!!!

Sorry to hear about the lack of professionalism by the Photographer you recently employed to take headshots. I would ask for your Money back, if he/she fails to refund you, have them black-listed on sites like this one (this is so others do not fall into the same trap and it will impact on their business)and if a member of Equity see what help they can proffer, they might help through Small Claims Court. You can also visit your Local Council's Consumer Rights Division (or threaten to) this will impact on the Photographers local business? If you are sold shoddy goods you are entitled to recompence and refunds. You were sold shoddy goods in this instance.

James is right. If you paid the money and didn't receive the goods...well that sounds like fraud to me and there are plenty of organisations and laws that can work in your favour.

Not only is it seriously unprofessional behaviour it is also completely stupid of them as Photographers tend to rely heavily on word of mouth and recommendations.

Hope you get your money/photos back. Let us know!

What are the terms and conditions listed on their contract?

Yes, whatever, it does sound an over-long delay (last time I had Headshots done I received the unprocessed images as I walked out the door.)
