| Topic: Working in America | ||

| Hi Advice needed. I have just very recently started in the industry. I left drama school last year.There could be an oppotunity for me to go to New York as my husband has been offered a job there. Basically i would like to hear from people who have worked in America and to share their experiences. I can imagine its a lot harder London to find acting work. Any help would be appreciated Thanks | ||

| Laura ... this topic has been covered a number of times ... green cards, visas etc... and especially Lawyers. Suggest you flip through and find the Threads, all filled with some excellent advice. | |

| Laura, If your husband has been offered work there, you can easily get a visa as his wife. So no real worry there. New york is fabulous, there are many well paid jobs in theatre and more and more TV series are relocating there (Law and Order (Regular, SVU and CI), Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl and many more). It is a great place to be an actor, probably better than LA because there are less actors so you are more likely to book co-stars and guest stars on the series and get a good solid resume this way. And there's Broadway and off Broadway!! :-) There is no doubt in my mind that it will be easier finding paid work over there than in London. Good luck!!! | |

| not to mention films! There are many more films cast and shot in New York than in the whole of the UK. | |
