| Topic: Advice and opinions wanted fn my showreel. | ||
|---|---|---|
| As I cannot afford a professionally made showreel, I have cobbled something together using Windows Movie Maker. The amount of footage I have managed to gather is a bit limited,(If getting jobs is hard, getting the promised finished copy is almost impossible.) But I have collected a few nice bits and pieces. Having watched this reel in its various incarnations several hundred times, I feel that I may have lost my objectivity. I have shown this film to friends, and responded to their feedback, but I would appreciate some input from people who are in the business. I would appreciate any advice that you can give me. I know that the sound levels need a bit of tweeking, and although it has had a good response from my friends, I am not convinced that the "gag" at the very end of the reel works. Prior to posting on my CCP profile, and Spotlight, I have uploaded the showreel to Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUQiW2KEToQ Any Advice and suggestions will be a real help before I make the final edit. Here's thanking you in advance, Paul | ||

| 28 views, but sadly, no comments. (I am not sure if thats a good thing or a bad.) But I have recieved feedback from elsewhere. I am now up to re-edit number 5. I have reorganized the clips, and cut the length down to 3 minites, 9 seconds. | |

| Hi Paul, I think the content is excellent and shows you off well. My thought though (not gospel - just my feeling) is that once we've seen a character,we shouldn't need to see him again, just once should be enough to tick a casting directors box. At the same time though, I understand why you've put 3 sections of the tramp/camelot piece in there. We need to see that journey for the gag to work, and it Does, I tittered with aplomb :0) also think 3 minutes is a bit long, you could trim it to 2.30 If you make a few cuts. All in all though, I think it's "reel"y good - geddit? "reel"-y good?...I'm here till Monday. Simon | |

| I really enjoyed it too and agree with Paul that it might be better cut a bit. I think the sound on my computer must be a bit off as it was very soft. Cheers | |

| Thank you all for the input, both here and though PM. Some of the comments that I have received directly suggest that some people are still looking at the old version. So to clarify, the last (5th) edit has now been uploaded to mu CCP profile, or it can be seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMZDJNRFicI if you are interested you an also see the various stages that it went through on YouTube. I am still awaiting footage for wok done in the past, so this sill may not be the final incarnation. Best wishes, and thanks again for the input. Paul Adams | |

![]() anonymous | I really enjoyed it and was very impressed that you managed it all yourself! My one critique is that a, it might even still be considered too long! another minute off would be great, b, some of the clips looked more professional than others. The tramp/lancelot sketch looks great, quite modern, but the piano playing bit maybe looks a bit wrong somehow, too 'golden'?. Sorry, that's not very helpful! But it was my first impression. |
