Blake! I'd heartily recommend Stagefight (www.stagefight.co.uk). I am training with them and they are tops in my book.

There's also Youngblood (http://youngblood.co.uk/) and British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat (http://www.bassc.org/).

Hi Blake,

If your interested in Archery then I can ask my children's instructor, he's a great guy and I am planning to do a short course myself.

If your really serious I'll ask my brother about it,as he now works as a stuntman,And could probably suggest a good teacher.

I guess it depends on how serious you are and what you want to achieve.

In all honesty a basic stage fight exam will give you a grounding in sword and dagger work,as well as hits, kicks and punches, after that its up to you.

Fencing is an excellent way to give you the hand to eye work needed for accurate sword scenes.

Dont go to mad with spending money though,.If a film company want you they will hire a specialist to teach you before hand and advice on set.

If a stage production wants you, again they should provide someone to advise you when setting fights.

My brother worked as an actor before the stunt work crept in,and took part in a few productions at the ROH and ENO.

Operas very often have sword play involved. They are scared stiff of opera singers getting hurt,so its left to the company of actors to do all the rough stuff.
I did a couple of productions there myself. So if you fancy flexing your fight skills after doing a course somewhere, what better place to show them off than in front of a full house at the opera.
I had a ball. The moneys equity min,but its a good credit to get on the CV.
