| I guess it really depends on your present look and whether you would like to change it. Having new photos can be expensive but they are also a good investment so most people don't have new photos until they feel like they need a change or are not working for them anymore. I would try to have a range - differents looks/characters, black and white and also come nice colour ones in your portfolio (most photographers take the shots in colour so all you'd have to do is ask). CCP and Spotlight don't charge extra so you can have a really nice range. Look in the directory for what photographers do and how much they charge. Hope that helps! | |

![]() anonymous | If you get them done in colour then you can change them to black and white very easily on most computers. The US has used colour head shots for quite a while. It seems the UK is just now catching up. |

| Passing on advice from 7 very current casting directors I did workshops with last year: all still said black and white (but, yes, the USA like colour). And although I've been told 'new photos at least every 3 years', one (very prestigious) C.D. thought we actors got new headshots on a yearly basis! The obvious point is, you must still look like the photo. No-one likes to hear 'you looked younger in the photo' or 'I didn't recognise you'. So, if you have a new look, you need new shots. | |
