| Just seen a job reposted on here that I didn't even get an audition for - my casting is perfect for the role, I have ample experience, and I wrote a lovely cover note -why are they readvertising without even giving me a flipping audition?? WHY?!! GAH! God, it makes me wonder what the secret password is to get an audition sometimes....grr.... | ||

| Secret Password must be luck. Whilst I was intially short listed for a feature film to play my dream role of private detective, I received no response from these two other applications: 1. Muslim Woman 2. Middle Eastern lady with Hijab !!! | |

| I fear that it's your look and luck that very often play pivotal roles, where castings are concerned. You can do nothing more than be as prepped as possible - the rest is, sadly, out of your hands and in the hands of the gods - or at least, the casting directors! | |

| I'm sure we all get this from time to time. We see a job brief and think "wow, they're describing me!!" Yet they never even see you for it. Very frustrating I agree. Having spoken to people who use this site from the other side (from a casting perspective I mean, not the dead!) if they get someone applying who they feel is just right in the first batch of submissions, they stop looking. I can understand this from their point of view (why keep looking for something you've found) but I do think they could take the time to look through at least the majority of them to see if there's any better options. Keep at it though! :) | |

| As the job has been re-posted, I would think it's worth you applying again. There could be all sorts of reasons why the casting didn't go through to conclusion last time. I empathise with your frustration though. The last few jobs I've been called in for (for auditions) have been those my agent has submitted me for (three cheers, hoorah and bravo). Really great to have been called in, and clearly they must have seen me as a possibility for the role, but most of the time I've looked at the breakdown and thought: "really? me?" . Other times I've seen breakdowns and felt they've described me but I haven't been called in at all. Having occasionally been on the other side of the casting table, I know that a visceral feeling can come into it. You see a photo and it just calls to you - others just don't. It's quite often hard to know why! | |

| I must say that I have actually emailed and asked what the reason they wont see is from time to time. Last time they said I WAS on the short list and the brief changed. I think its really annoying but remember that its a buyers market out there, and there are LOADS of us... just keep plugging away... you will find the right role, or it will find YOU and they will want you. Concentrate on your technique, get as good as you can, exercise, go for therapy if that helps ( Im serious- its a stressful business) and keep on keeping on.... | |
