Joanne's thread was (not suprisingly) closed re the worth of CCP.
I came back to the profession last January 2009, a tired old actor who'd had four years off fed up with agents who never seemed to do things for me (god forbid they'd actually see me work) and without the power of the internet in my formative years it had been almost impossible to find out where the work was.
Last year I started afresh, in March I started with a student film (found from CCP) I then joined another website (through CCP) at angel spirit ent' and found out it was run by an old colleague who got me an audition with Pantoni Pantomimes who I've just had a great five weeks in yeovil as King Rat. I won an audition thru CCP with black box theatre company in Liverpool (for which I have no comment). I got several days work on a telly "mystery files" (contact thru CCP again) which was absolutely great fun! and met someone on that job who knew another old friend and got back in touch with him so making more work at Blackpool north pier theatre, and at St Helens theatre royal. I've just auditioned for Zip theatre this week and I've got 17 weeks work with them starting monday.
So apart from my lucky break via spotlight with three commercials in august CCP are responsible directly or indirectly for most of my work last year,
and apart from the work I've met some really nice people, Bill,Barry,Lee, kevin the list is huge so that's gotta be worth a lot!
Use the site to it's fullest and I find it more than pays its way. So much so that I've started my subscription with Castnet as well.
I hope this isn't coming across as showing off, Like the rest of you I look at a list of 36 jobs in a day on here of which 30 of them are unpaid and gasp! but some of us will need to do them, even at my great age I still work for nothing if I think it might be worth it sometimes. We need those jobs for showreel footage we need them for CV padding, audition experience but if we don't like them then arrange your settings so you don't even have to look at them.
I hope this is coming across as encouragement rather than a slap down, it's not meant that way.
It does work, honest!
Chin up!

Editorial comment
We treated Joanne's post about CCP as we do any other post about a company - e.g. castweb, castnet, spotlight etc... please reply directly to the poster. Many thanks, CCP
