| Hi All, There is currently a major debate going on about Expenses jobs. Recently a BECTU member took a company to court for non payment of expenses. The plaintiff won and the ruling was also that according to current employment law, all expenses jobs should legally pay the National Minimum Wage regardless of whether the advertisement dictated expenses only. The Company taken to court was therefore not only liable for expenses but the NMW of the plaintiff. My feelings as a (Professional) Producer / Employer and Performer are, that if a job is worthy enough a Producer must find all the finance to make it with including a basic NMW. Not just enough finance for expenses, equipment hire / food. Thankfully this is also a legal requirement. Employers (Doing the whole expenses thing) take note you are liable for NMW regardless as to whether you just advertise it as an expenses job. | ||
