I applied the other day on CCP for a short film,
and the director invited me for an audition,
The 1st message from him said, hi, we would like
to see you for a casting etc, the 2nd message he
sent out to everybody saying, please look through
the email to see what time your audition is and
if you're not on the list then email him back
saying "not on list", which I did, no reply..
Then I sent him another email to his othe email
not CCP message service, hi I'm not on the list,
he replies and gives me a time, but no script,
I send him another email, I didn't get the script
Or character details...he then send an email to me
saying thanks everyone for coming to the audition etc..
again I reply, hi you didn't see me or send me the script etc
Yes, that's right people, no reply!
WTF!!!!??? Total idoit!!!
Anyway, whatever, KEEP THE FAITH PEOPLE!

Often you see the signs of time wasters before going for an audition. This has probably worked out better for you as you would have been wasting more time later on.x

yeah i have had audition details like this in the past, and on the two (maybe three) occasions where i attended, they were not-serious film makers.

Most of the time, quite scary people!

I had one who kept swearing at the people who run the place where I was auditioned because of the lights being dim and there being music and he kept feeling his nether-regions and saying things like "I've got itchy Bo.......". nice....
Another was a bit odd too, he was the one who wanted me to buy all the props and sets (I think i ranted about it at the time).

the other explanation i have found to sometimes be the case is that they are first year media students who don't care about filmmaking and are just on a college course because that's what the careers advisor at school told them to do when they put "watching films" as a hobby on their forms at school.

but up to you if you attend, of course. I'm only saying what the result has been with me when i have been in a similar situation. But from my experiences, when you get feelings like this before you have even seen a script- then it's probably best to drop out.

Agreed!

We sometimes get blinded by the role/opportunity that we fail to spot the obvious signs of a timewaster!

I recently attended a 'meeting' with a group of student filmmakers having been cast on the strength of my CV/reel! 2 texts and 3 messages on voicemail later they still hadn't showed up so I walked!

This was a let off for me and their loss and it is the same for you in your case!

Learn from it for future!

Jonny

I was offered an "audition" slot for that same casting call but didn't go. Why? Well, I'd had same responses as you but had gained the impression that absolutely everyone who applied was called.

Simply - a 5 minute slot after a 2.5 hour journey. No Chance. All that without sight of a script or even a detailed synopsis. It didn't inpire me with any confidence.

OK: I might have missed a big career break - but felt I would have more chance of that on the X Factor :o)

An audition.

Director: Ok, would you like to read now?
Me: Yes. (I pick up the script from the table where I am sitting at)
Dir: Do you know it by heart?
Me: Well, yeah, sure. It's only short.
Dir: Ok then.
(I wander over to the set)
Dir: (suddenly violent) Put the script DOWN!
(I place it on a nearby table.)
Dir: (Apoplectic) ON THE TABLE YOU PICKED IT UP FROM!!!
(I put it back, gingerly)
Dir: NOW LAUGH! LAUGH AT SOMETHING REALLY FUNNY!

I didn't get the job.
