| Hi there, I'm looking for part-time work to pay the bills while “resting” (which I'm getting a lot of at the moment!) I just wanted to know if I'm looking in the right places. Where did you guys find your non-acting jobs? I obviously need something that is flexible around auditions and filming commitments etc. I'm based in London but any national websites would be useful too, as would any to avoid I guess! Thanks in advance x | ||

| Hey there. Well, I'm signed up with a couple of agencies, but there are occasions when I am finding it tricky to get time "off" to attend auditions, etc (see my previous thread!). Of course, there is always the dreaded tele-marketing option, though I found that because the turnover is so rapid in places like that, they can quite easily refuse to grant you last-minute leave, safe in the knowledge that there are plenty of other folks ready and willing to fill your shoes. Other resting actors, probably! Good luck, sir. | |

| I'd recommend promo work, it can take a while to build up a reputation and get regular work, but its flexible, full of actors and well paid. | |

| Pertemps have done well by me and have been very flexible when it comes to having the day off to audition and work. They specialise in finding officey jobs. www.pertemps.co.uk. Most agencies require just 24 hours notice if you are going to leave a job so hopefully you shouldn't have any problems. Hope you find something, times are tough. x | |

| Have you tried stuckforstaff.com or the part time jobs part of gumtree, or the stage has loads of telephone and toy demonstrating jobs, could you hack charity fundraising? Its costs £100ish if you shop around to do a short course and get an SIA licence, then you can work as a doorman or a security guard - often 12 hour shifts watching moniters - got a good book? Are you single? You could be an escort! Or you could contact companies like Rhubarb and Blistering BBQ's and work in silver service... My mate works irregularly selling the evening standard, maybe ask one of them how to get the job? On gumtree there are loads of delivery jobs and driving those bike-cab things round the west end, have you tried writing to all the role play companies? I work freelance for 4 TIE companies - I run one of them - I could sort you some irregular work if you can be arsed to learn 4 scripts!!! Promo work - contact N2O, Tribe, Engage, Channel Advantage - oh theres loads. Tequilla Boy? Contact Sugar Dolls. Can you play an instrument? You could busk, although you need to get a licence... Some people scrape a living doing online surveys and product feedback meetings, can you teach acting to kids? Loads of work there. Failing that, I know a place where you can cover yourself in blood and shout at tourists all day for a flat hourly rate... | |
