I do find it annoying but nice to receive application not taken forward. Is there anyway I can stop from receiving it. I'd rather just see it when I log in here than get it every time it happens in my email.

Well, I just got a notification that I wasn't short listed for a particular audition - but I've actually got one! - so not at all sure about the whole set up now!

I think you'll just have to wait for the admins to get back to you on that, Andrew, but as far as I know:

1. There is no specification that we (the users) can make to determine whether we get sent these emails or not - in other words, no simple way of controlling the function...

2. I believe that the e-mails are only sent if employers choose to 'check' the appropriate option in their own casting boxes - so they aren't sent in response to every application by any means. Because this is at employer discretion (and I suppose happens in bulk), there is probably no easy way to stop the 'default' from activating...The device would seem to be in place in order to save employers the time of having to address every unsucessful application individually, so is designed to work in this way...

Still doesn't explain why I got an email from the people asking me to phone and arrange an audition time and then getting an email from admin to say I wasn't shortlisted.

Just heard from admin who say the company must have clicked the box. Hey ho, maybe they thought better of it after they'd invited me to phone in and get an audition date :-))

Here at Casting Call Pro we try to give you as much information as possible.

As such when a casting director marks your application as 'unsuitable' you'll be alerted to this via email.

You can't turn off these alerts the system is designed to give you this information as soon as possible to help co-ordinate your schedule and availability.

Casting briefs can often change at short notice, which is why you may find a casting director initially rejects your application but later reconsiders their decision.

I was rejected for an audition on which I knew I fit the casting brief 100%. The rejection came direct from the director himself as it was via his own email address and logo etc. I have never done this before, but did a bit of research on him, previous films etc, then researched this on casting call pro to see who had worked with him previously. Eventually was given a contact email address, hard pushed my case, realising that I could be taking a risk. Was asked to submit photos etc, and show reel. After 3 video submissions I am shortlisted for lead role for the feature film for C4 filming starts next May, If I get the role I have to learn to handglide and enter the Bognor Birdman competition,

see my last video entry which got me shortlisted and comment if you can good or bad.

A good example Grace of why you should not listen to all the clap trap often muted on these forums about the right way to do things and the wrong. There are no rules really just common sense, and hard work on behalf of the actor. You were armed with a video, you persevered in a professional way, and it's paid off. Fingers crossed for you!
