Casting Call Pro is testing a new system which allows actors to quickly and easily launch a personal website.

We would like to get your feedback on the current interface.

At present there is only one design (quite dark) but we hope you'll find it simple to use.

I would welcome feedback from anyone.

Build your website

Please note if you are an HTML expert this service is not for you, it is intended to help those users who want to quickly and painlessly create a standard actors website.

Thanks,

Chris

I confess I am a technology dunce, but there doesnt seem to be a simple way to up load credits in a decent format.

Editorial comment
When you now create your website, your credits will automatically be pulled in!

Thanks,

Really like it, very easy and simple to use. Like the fact its done most of the legwork for you by using the files from our own profiles......now is it possible to get a link from our ccp profiles to our own websites like that??

Editorial comment
All new websites have a links section, which automatically includes a link to your CCP profile, but you can add new ones if you like.

Thanks,

C

Its a good start.........bit basic...but if its a free addition to the existing fee, it would be very good for those with no website skills.

we presume there will be an option to add credits etc.

How will one promote the website domain name though? ie: Its just a series of numbers at the mo? I presume it would be something like

www.castingcallpro.co.uk/actors name ??

Editorial comment
Currently the domain is just a holding domain - ultimately you'll be able to register a domain and point it to your new site - or point an existing domain to your site.

I agree with Mark; it's a good start, and if it's a free feature then its a great start. However, it would be greatly enhanced if you could change the order and titles on the existing menu rather than just pages you add.

But all in all a very nice feature.

Editorial comment
Thanks Feargus - you can now change the order of existing menu items.

Great - the new website feature appears to be working well - we've also further improved it so you can add your credits, change the colours and add links.

Find out more by going to the website creator page.

(if you have an existing website on our beta version 1.0 system which we launched on friday I strongly suggest you delete it and create a new one - it's much better)

Thanks,

Chris

We're building some help pages to address some of the more common questions.

In general if you have ideas or problems please post them to this thread.

Importantly if you come up with a nice color scheme please post a link here:

Simon's Blue Example Color Scheme.

Thanks,

Chris

It's definitely a good idea and is starting to look good however I do have a couple of suggestions. I think it would be useful if the other information on our profiles were also automatically pulled in (e.g. the freetext boxes we fill out, maybe under an Other Information or Skills section or the key info section) as some people have a lot of information in them and it saves having to re-create it! Also if the training info was automatically populated as it is in Simon's example.

Just my tuppence worth :)

Hello,

Once you have paid for the domain name for the two years what happens to the domain name after that? Say for example I become world famous and could afford an amazing website, who would own my domain name after this time - would I be able to purchase it or would Casting Call Pro own it? Thanks

Editorial comment
We provide the services to get you the domain name, but ultimately it belongs to you.

At any time you can tell us to release the domain to another hosting company. They can then take over the DNS, hosting, email etc.

When the domain expires in 2 years time, you can either renew it (via us, via someone else) or simply let it lapse.

Chris

I agree that it would be great to be able to put free text info in, as it personalises things and allows a lot of scope.

I also think it would be very useful to be able to have the option of being able to point up current projects/achievements on the top page or at the top of the CV - by way of 'Recent News.' It is more lively and personal, and shows that you are keeping proactive, and keen to share some detail about what you've been up to lately.

Editorial comment
You can do all of this by adding new pages.
Login to the admin page and then use the 'add new page' option to add new pages.
Or update an existing page (such as the home page) to add details of current projects.
