| Ok everyone, it's been over a month since I finished panto, and this bloody credit crunch nonsense is seriously messing up my social life as I can find a job for love nor money and consequently, I'm skint. So I've decided to bite the bullet and get onto temp agencies and let them find work for me. Only thing is, I have little to none office and computer experience, so I need somewhere that'll find me work where this doesn't matter so much (receptionist and all that). Which leads me to my plea for help. Does anyone know of any good temp agencies? All suggestions gratefully received because I'm desperate. Cheers guys, Chris xxx | ||

| Hi Chris, feeling your pain and frustration. Its bloody like a ghost town out there at the moment and i deem myself an experienced actor with a healthy bunch of credits to my name. If you have any bar training or waitering background then you could do a lot worse than find somewhere where they have a good tips scheme to bulk out the low hourly rate..I work in a gastro pub in London and the money is ok but they are fully accepting of actors needing to disappear at short notice for auditions. In fact 25% of the staff are actors or dancers. This is a fairly common thing in London but of course don't know where you live so might not be so applicable. Hope this helps.Good luck. | |

| Yeah I've got lots of waiter experience but nowhere's taking on (and believe me when I say I've asked every restaurant in London), so that's why I'm asking for temp agancies. Keep 'em coming guys. X | |

| For those who think they may still need a temp job in May/June it is worth ringing your local secondary schools. They always need invigilators at this time of year and now is the time they recruit. Pay is ok (my school pay above the min wage though not by much!) but the work is easy and you could potentially go over your monologues in your head as you work :) x | |

| Yeah, I may be skint but I'm not that desperate! :). Rather go on the dole. My friend actually used to work at kfc and says he did completely vile things to the food. Being a veggie, it's not a problem for me. Any more sensible suggestions please? Love and hugs xx | |

| Go on the dole. They should, depending on your circumstances, pay your rent and council tax and as long as you keep putting yourself forward for acting work then they should also give you Job Seekers Allowance. It's what I've had to do, I went and signed on and even the Job Centres are saying there are no jobs out there at the moment. I've got 4 years of retail experience with 2 years of that being in a management/supervisor role and I can't get anything. There are no jobs anywhere unless you have experience in the food industry (which I don't). The lucky thing about Job Seekers Allowance is that you can do up to 16 hours of work before they will stop your benefits, although if it's paid they will deduct it from your allowance. I hope this helps. | |

| God Chris, that's a horrid thing to do - I know KFC is the last thing I'd want to eat - well, apart from a Macdonalds - but no matter how pee'd off he was, he shouldn't have done stuff to people's food - that's disgraceful. | |

| This is all very lovely and funny but in true CCP style, we're going a little off topic. Personally, I couldn't give a tiny toss about the morals of food interference and the dole isn't for me. So back to the original question guys - names of TEMPING AGENCIES. I know you all use them so please, let's get chris a job ok? All my love x | |

| Going on the dole will only make you feel like sh*t! I did it a few years back and had a job withing the month, because I desperatley did not want to sign on. It should be your last option as a lad who seems healthy and is young I don't see any reason why you can't get a job. Im not proud, I would do whatever (within reason) to keep myself afloat, mcdonalds are also looking for staff and they put people through nvqs when they work there (my mam works in recruitment) there are jobs out there, people need to stop using the credit crunch as a reason to not work!-although I am not putting you personally in this categary as you are looking for work. try temping/nightclub work/promotions/labouring/cleaning just got to learn to blag your experience. Good luck with it all and I hope you find something! | |
