Yes we have lots of important decisions to make on Monday the 14th of April. But if not many Equity members come our meeting we will be inquorate and we can't vote on any decisions. So we need a good turnout to make important changes.

It will be lovely to see you there.

Cheers

Good luck on Monday, Tracey! I know the Midlanders want to have their say in what goes on in the Union. So I hope you are qorate and can make the ammendments to the agenda for the Annual Represetative Conference to get the best for your members.

Don't say words like amendments, motions and ARC you will scare all the Midlands actors away. Especially the young ones. No the things we have to discuss are much more fun than that I hope.

I am sure we will touch on the motions for the ARC. But because a lot of our members travel from a long way away we like to keep our meeting short and fun.

Cheers

You can have fun and have your say in what you want from the Industry too.
Isn't that what all the Branches are for?

Yes Alan I agree branches are definitely for fun and to have your say in this industry too.

I've just read through the provisional agenda for the Annual Representative's Conference which is on the home page of the Equity website right at the bottom of the list of news items. Anyone can download it as a PDF and have a good read.

I particularly liked the motion from your Yorkshire and Humberside branch Alan, about new regionally based Equity general members automatically going on their general branch list. I'm sure lots of members do not realise that not only do you have to opt into Equity, but also at the moment have to then opt to be in a branch. I think quite often it can be a long time before new Equity members find out that there are branches and that Equity is run by the members for the members. In a fun and NOT boring way I hasten to say.

I also really like the motion from the Northern Ireland's national committee in the film TV and radio section of the agenda. Which is a motion about the BBC and their regional production or lack of genuine regional production.

Also the motion from the East Anglia Variety Branch about improvements being made to the Equity website made me laugh, as I thought it was only me that thought the current Equity website was bobbins. Just my personal opinion I must add.

So yes lots of interesting things to discuss about the ARC at our next meeting. As well as my fun secret thing that I'm not going to tell everyone about on this website. They have to come along to the next meeting if they want to know more.

Cheers
Tracey

I'm with you on those motions, Tracey.
Also the Northern Area AGM one about literary agents granting licences for plays. There are more than a few instances of some companies restricting plays from being produced to create commercially viable income to genuine other companies that are paying the correct wages for actors. So the first can offer no pay/low pay castings and pocket the bigger profits for themselves.
It is despicable practice that must be addressed before they take ALL of the most popular plays 'off the market' and reduce the viability of genuine proper wage paying companies.
I hope you support it.

Yes that sounds like a good motion to Alan.

I will certainly point it out to our members on Monday.

Though I do also hope that our members will take the time to visit the equity website, read the provisional agenda, and share with the meeting the motions they find of particular interest.

Cheers

Also I finally did my student Equity talk at BSA.

I have to say the students were really lovely and it made me proud that I trained at the same drama school many years ago.

So I'm hoping that we also get a good turnout of student Equity members as student members are always very very welcome.

Cheers
