About me
With a background originally in dance and cabaret Lexi attended LISPA in 2013 in an attempt to discover physical embodiment and character, and came away with extensive acting techniques in voice, physical storytelling, clown and comedy. Most recently she co-devised and performed a two-woman tap and storytelling show ‘Blushed’ through Sole Rebel Tap, at Brighton and Oxford festivals, and finally with Gilded Balloon at Edinburgh Fringe 2017 to rave reviews. Previously she co-created SHED with collaborator Laura Williamson, an innovative comedic physical theatre piece, for Vault Festival 2014.
Lexi continues to nurture her work and changing interests with training and workshops. In 2016 she took a Complicite clowning course with the renowned Jos Houben, and completed ‘Stand – Up School’ at Camden Comedy School, followed by several months of test grounding her stand-up on the open-mic circuit. She is currently developing a comedy sketch show with fellow comedian Esther Manito, with the potential to take to the fringe circuit later in 2017.
Lexi has a vast and multi-faceted experience in the theatre profession since graduating in 2003 with a first class honours degree in Performing Arts from London Metropolitan University.
Additional skills:
In 2012-13 Lexi was selected to be part of the Step Change programme: a professional development programme run by the National Theatre/Royal Opera House, aimed at people who show great potential in performing arts leadership. She recently assisted in short-listing 2016’s potential Step Change cohort.
Lexi is currently working with two tap companies: As Company Manager for ‘Old Kent Road’, the UK’s top tap dancers, for whom she won an Arts Council bid this year. And Co-Director for ‘Sole Rebel Tap’, with whom she successfully toured and performed a two-handed tap -comedy show Blushed at Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals this year, also funded by ACE.
Additional information:
Lexi works as a Tap-dancer and choreographer, training with two tap-dance companies and teaching up to 10 adult tap classes a week.
